The St.

George Illawarra Dragons are set to lose promising young playmaker Jonah Glover, who has reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with South Sydney Rabbitohs, starting in 2026.

This development compounds the injury issues currently plaguing Shane Flanagan's squad, as they prepare for an away game against the top-ranked Canberra Raiders.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Glover has stood out in the Dragons' NSW Cup, recording 15 try assists and 16 line break assists in just 15 games this season.

However, his pathway to the Dragons' first-grade side has been hindered by the established halves pair of Kyle Flanagan and Lyhkan King-Togia, especially with King-Togia seizing opportunities after Lachlan Ilias was demoted to reserve grade.

Fans have voiced frustration over Glover not getting a fair chance at the No.

7 jersey, with some accusing Flanagan of nepotism for favoring his son.

In response to these allegations, Flanagan dismissed the criticism as "ridiculous" prior to a recent game against Parramatta, where he performed notably in a 34-20 victory.

Glover's departure represents a significant loss for the Dragons, who had high hopes for his future.

For South Sydney, the acquisition appears to be a strategic move by coach Wayne Bennett, especially as the Rabbitohs are facing their own struggles in the halves department.

Veteran half Cody Walker is sidelined with a hamstring injury, and potential replacement Jayden Sullivan recently suffered a broken leg, exacerbating the Rabbitohs' crisis in that position.
