The Dolphins' first finals campaign has strengthened CEO Terry Reader's resolve to retain coach Kristian Woolf beyond his current deal.
Reader expects a contract extension after Friday night's qualifying final against the Sydney Roosters, despite Woolf being technically off-contract on November 1.
"That's something that will be taken care of quite quickly," Reader said.
"the intention is for him to be a long-term coach at the club, and that's his intention as well."
Woolf is signed through 2027 and was selected as Wayne Bennett's successor after helping Tonga rise internationally and winning three consecutive Super League premierships with St Helens.
"Woolfie wasn't an assistant coach who we were hoping knew how to be a head coach," Reader said.
The 51-year-old had joined the Dolphins' coaching structure from its 2022 establishment year, when Bennett was appointed to oversee the launch and coach for two seasons.
Although the Dolphins fell to 12th after eight rounds with four defeats, management never considered changing direction.
"We've got wonderful faith in the people and loyalty to the people," Reader said.
Centre Herbie Farnworth said Woolf had built a demanding culture where "all the boys look up to him."
Half Isaiya Katoa credited Woolf's belief with allowing him to play confidently and trust his decisions.
Reader said Woolf's appointment had delivered "credibility and stability", positioning him to avoid the short post-Bennett tenures experienced by several successors at other clubs.
