The Dolphins are 80 minutes from their first NRL Grand Final, with a sold-out Suncorp Stadium awaiting Friday's preliminary final.
The Roosters stand between them and that opportunity, reviving the same matchup that began the Dolphins' NRL story in 2023.
Tom Gilbert played in that inaugural game, when the Dolphins secured their first club victory against the Roosters at Suncorp Stadium.
"It's a full-circle moment. It's great for the club, for both clubs too. Obviously there's a history there," Gilbert said.
"Obviously, the first game, the first club win, it's a massive thing."
The Dolphins are contesting their maiden Finals campaign after a season spent pursuing this position, and Gilbert said the players would accept its significance.
"It is a massive occasion and we're not going to lie about that throughout the week with the talk and what's ahead," he said.
"All year we've welcomed the pressure to be in this position."
Fans gathered to watch the squad train, offering an early indication of the support expected at the sold-out venue.
"the fans mean a lot to us and to get the opportunity to train in front of them and have a great turnout really excites us for what's ahead this week.
"It's a really great opportunity for those fans to enjoy this week as well."
Gilbert expects a strong challenge from the Roosters but believes the Dolphins can embrace the occasion.
"They're a great team for obvious reasons and the best team will win at the end of the day," he said.
"It's going to be an awesome and exciting challenge."
