Dolphins forward Tom Gilbert's hopes of participating in Game 1 of the 2025 State of Origin series have significantly diminished following a suspected pectoral muscle injury sustained just before halftime.
According to reports from zerotackle.com, while defending on the edge, Gilbert made an effort to tackle but appeared to have his shoulder moved awkwardly, leading him to clutch his shoulder and pectoral region.
Despite his attempts to stay on the field, he was taken for further assessment and there are concerns he could be sidelined for several weeks.
Sideline reporter Lara Pitt commented, "Concerns for Tom Gilbert.
Possible pec injury.
He has gone straight into the sheds with the doctor."
This injury comes after a challenging period for Gilbert, who missed significant time during the 2023 season due to a shoulder injury sustained in the opening game of that year's State of Origin series.
Furthermore, he was absent throughout the entirety of the 2024 season as a result of an ACL injury he suffered while trying to regain his fitness during the pre-season challenge.
