Souths loss sees Jets drop out of top five

In a recent report by sharks.com.au, it was revealed that Newtown Jets suffered a 32-16 defeat to South Sydney at Redfern Oval, resulting in their drop to sixth place on the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup competition table.

Despite both Newtown and the Canberra Raiders now sitting on 27 points, the Jets hold a more favorable points differential than their National Capital counterparts.

To reclaim their position, the Jets will face off against the Raiders at Henson Park this Saturday, August 12th, with hopes that the annual players' reunion and a strong home game attendance will provide them with a crucial advantage.

Due to injuries and the Cronulla Sharks' need for additional players in their NRL match in Perth, Newtown had to field a heavily restructured team against the Rabbitohs.

This led to the inclusion of two players, five-eighth Johnny-Lee Gabrael and back-rower Addison Demetriou, who made their first competition game appearances this season.

Additionally, young center Chris Vea'ila made his debut for Newtown, having been called up from the Cronulla Sharks Jersey Flegg squad.
