International and State of Origin back-rower David Fifita is reportedly finalizing his release from the Gold Coast Titans and is on the verge of signing a multi-year contract with another NRL club soon.

As one of the highest-paid players in the NRL, earning around $1 million annually, Fifita has shown flashes of his talent since joining the Titans. However, he hasn't consistently performed at the level he exhibited during his tenure with the Brisbane Broncos at Red Hill.

Fifita has found himself out of favor with the Titans, which led to his demotion to the QLD Cup. Despite still being under contract until the end of the 2026 NRL season, there have been ongoing discussions about him being offered to rival clubs, with persistent links to the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

After months of speculation about his future, The Daily Telegraph reports that Fifita is nearing a multi-year deal with the Rabbitohs and is finalizing negotiations to secure his release from the Titans.

Currently earning around $950,000, it is believed the Titans may pay as much as $500,000 toward his contract for the following season.

This situation comes just over a year after he reneged on a four-year deal to join their rivals, the Sydney Roosters.
