Darius Boyd is now the coach of the Queensland Maroons.
The now-famous 42-second interview seems like a distant memory.
This time, Boyd appears much more self-assured and composed than he was during his 2009 appearance.
Clearly, many changes have occurred since then.
Importantly, Boyd entered a mental health facility in 2014 to address his depression.
He explained to reporters on Thursday that he "needed to make a change."
Boyd has become a mental health advocate, author, and, currently, the coach for State of Origin.
"Are you trying to make me emotional?" he joked when asked about his journey leading to him succeeding Billy Slater.
"I've been on a journey; we're all on a journey, we've all had adversity. I think we can all agree on that."
"It's not about what happens to you; it's about what you do next and the strategies you have in place."
