Talakai, a former NSW State of Origin representative, starred from the bench as Cronulla defeated North Queensland 26-16 last Saturday.
"Sifa might have to backflip. He could take some of my contract to stay if he's going to keep playing like this," Mulitalo said.
Mulitalo said the players understood their time together was ending, adding, "But we'll enjoy these last moments we have together."
The Sharks now face an elimination semi-final against the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.
Eight members of Cronulla's squad played in Newtown's 2019 NSW Cup premiership team: Kennedy, Katoa, Mulitalo, Talakai, Trindall, Rudolph, Wilton and Brailey.
That group will shrink to six next season, with Katoa and centre Jesse Ramien joining North Queensland, while Talakai moves to the Perth Bears.
Wilton said the looming departures were motivating the Sharks' finals campaign.
"It's everything. We probably spend more time with each other than the families sometimes, and we've been together so long it's a strong brotherhood we've got going in and it's definitely a strength of the for sure."
Brailey said the teammates first played together in the SG Ball under-19s competition and had watched one another's families grow.
"Give them something to leave with would be really special," the captain said.
