Cowboys extend Whitfeld

The North Queensland Cowboys have announced a three-year contract extension with Jakiya Whitfeld, a standout outside back, running through the 2028 NRLW season.

Despite having only played 20 games in her NRLW career, Whitfeld has established herself as one of the most formidable players in the league.

She joined the Cowboys before the 2024 season after stints with the Knights and Wests Tigers.

In her debut season with the Cowboys, the 24-year-old made a significant impact, scoring six tries in nine matches and earning the title of Cowboys NRLW Players' Player.

On the international stage, Whitfeld has been impressive as well, scoring 10 tries in just six appearances for the Jillaroos.

Notably, she scored five tries against Papua New Guinea during last year's Pacific Championships and also contributed in the historic victory over England in Las Vegas in March.
