South Sydney's shining star Latrell Mitchell has found himself in hot water after being served with a code of conduct notice by the NRL.
An image supposedly showing him with a mysterious white substance has caused quite a stir in the rugby league community.
The image, reportedly snapped in Dubbo during a coaching clinic, captured Mitchell leaning over a table with the suspicious substance.
The NRL and South Sydney have been working together all week to get to the bottom of this scandal.
In a statement, the NRL explained, "The National Rugby League today issued South Sydney Rabbitohs player Latrell Mitchell with a breach notice alleging a breach of the NRL code of conduct following an NRL Integrity Unit investigation.
The particulars of the Breach Notice are that Mitchell featured in imagery, which emerged publicly on 12 August 2024, which depicted him acting in a manner which has brought the game into disrepute."
Now, Mitchell has five days to respond to this breach notice.
Only time will tell if he can tackle this challenge head-on and come out the other side unscathed.
Let's hope this incident doesn't sideline him for too long from the game he loves.
