Bulldogs centre Bronson Xerri is facing the challenge of being dropped, and his coach believes he could take a page from the playbook of former teammate Toby Sexton.
Following the decision to bench Xerri for the upcoming round three NRL match against Canberra, Cameron Ciraldo has opted for Enari Tuala instead. Ciraldo clarified that Xerri's performance in the opening round against the Dragons in Las Vegas wasn't the sole reason for the change; rather, it stemmed from "a number of other factors around training and preparation and things like that."
Included in these factors was Xerri's response to being reassigned from left centre to right centre to make room for captain Stephen Crichton. Ciraldo labeled Xerri's initial reaction to the benching as "disappointing."
"There's plenty of people in the NRL who have reactions that they regret and probably feel like they could have reacted better," Ciraldo commented.
