The Manly Sea Eagles have officially confirmed Daly Cherry-Evans' departure at the end of 2025 after he declined a two-year contract extension.
This decision comes after a week of rumors and speculation about Cherry-Evans' future with the club.
Despite efforts by the Sea Eagles' management to keep him in Manly, the star halfback has chosen to either retire or join a rival club in 2026.
Manly CEO Tony Mestrov expressed disappointment with Cherry-Evans' decision but also acknowledged and respected it.
He stated, "Obviously, we are all disappointed that Daly has decided to end his stay at Manly, but we respect his decision."
The news of Cherry-Evans' departure has left fans and the media surprised, especially after earlier reports suggested that the Sea Eagles were working on a deal to retain their captain for the rest of his career.
However, now it seems that it was too little, too late.
According to Zero Tackle, there were dramatic revelations, behind-the-scenes speculations, and unorthodox contract proposals leading up to Cherry-Evans' announcement.
While fans were aware of his desire to leave Manly following his appearance on 100% Footy, the official confirmation of his departure has solidified his exit from the club.
The future now remains uncertain for Daly Cherry-Evans as he looks towards the next chapter of his career.
Manly Sea Eagles fans will have to come to terms with the departure of their beloved captain and prepare for a new era without him leading the team.
