"We'd like to have a chinwag with him": Flanagan confirms interest in Eels skipper Gutherson
St George Illawarra Dragons head honcho Shane Flanagan has thrown his hat in the ring for recruiting Clint Gutherson from the Parramatta Eels, pronto.
Gutherson got the green light to chat with other teams at the start of the month, after getting the cold shoulder on a new contract from the Eels.
Niggling injuries, Jason Ryles taking the reins as head coach, and the signing of Isaiah Iongi from the Penrith Panthers have fueled speculation about Gutherson's future for a good while now.
Since taking over the coaching gig from Brad Arthur and Trent Barrett, Ryles has hinted at a potential shake-up in Gutherson's role, especially with Iongi joining the squad and adding some spice.
But Gutherson ain't too pleased about the idea of being shifted to lock or coming off the bench, mate.
