The Canberra Raiders NSW Cup squad has turned the tables and triumphed with a decisive 38-24 victory over the Newcastle Knights at GIO Stadium, Canberra.
In a display of strength and determination reminiscent of Rugby League legends of the past, the Raiders were quick to pounce on a costly mistake by the Knights.
Prop Peter Taateo seized the opportunity, charging through the defense to score a crucial try and give his team a much-needed boost.
With precision and skill that would make even the greats of the game proud, Mitch Henderson nailed the conversion to put the Raiders ahead by two points.
The momentum swung back and forth like a pendulum, as the Knights fought back with skipper Thomas Cant finding a gap to put his team in front.
But the Raiders were not to be outdone, showing resilience and grit as Taateo powered through for his second try of the match.
Henderson's consistent kicking game came through once again, slotting the conversion to level the scores at 12-12.
As the clock ticked down, the Knights tried to regain control with a spectacular leap from centre Krystian Mapapalangi for a try.
Cant's successful conversion gave the Knights a narrow lead with just minutes left on the clock.
However, in a final display of determination and grit, the Raiders mounted a strong offensive push.
With skillful gameplay and teamwork reminiscent of Rugby League greats, they managed to score three more tries to secure a well-deserved victory over their opponents from Newcastle.
