Warrington Wolves' chairman, Stuart Middleton, has expressed confidence in the appointment of Sam Burgess as the team's coach for 2024, despite his lack of experience in the role.

Burgess, a 34-year-old former England and Great Britain international, will be returning to the Super League with Wire next year.

While this will be his first top-level coaching job, he has served as an assistant at South Sydney Rabbitohs for the past year.

Middleton believes that Burgess' skills as a "leader and motivator" outweigh his novice status.

He stated that the team needs to try something different and take calculated risks, as their previous attempts with more experienced coaches have not been successful.

Middleton's decision to appoint Burgess reflects the team's willingness to embrace change and explore new possibilities.
