Season-Ending Injury for Bulldogs Forward
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have received troubling news regarding their standout edge back rower, Sitili Tupouniua.
After making a comeback from a lengthy hamstring injury on Friday night, Tupouniua managed to play just a few minutes before being sidelined again due to a similar issue.
He had previously spent eight weeks off the field after injuring himself in Round 16.
According to CODE Sports, Tupouniua is expected to face a similar recovery timeline for this latest injury.
His energetic presence and determination greatly contribute to the Bulldogs' performance, making his potential absence a serious blow to their slim hopes for a premiership.
Reports indicate that Tupouniua's hamstring injury will likely end his season unless the team advances to the first week of October, which would require them to overcome formidable opponents like the Panthers, Warriors, and Roosters.
Tupouniua now joins fellow player, rising star half Mitchell Woods, in the Bulldogs' injury list. Woods has been dealing with his own recurring issues since February, which have derailed his season.
The Tongan international had been delivering some of the finest performances of his career early in the season before the initial injury sidelined him in June.
Coach Cameron Ciraldo expressed understandable disappointment at the thought of losing his key backrower for an extended period once again.
