The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs' back rower, Jacob Preston, is preparing to explore his options on the open market for a 2028 contract, with discussions permitted in just four months.
Direct communication with Preston's agent, Wayde Rushton, clarified the current contract situation for the promising player.
"Jake would love to stay at the Dogs, but the figure they came up with and the one we are looking at are a fair way apart," Rushton shared with Wide World of Sports.
He added, "Unless things change soon, we will start talking to rival clubs when the rules allow in November - I'm sure there will be plenty of interest."
With a bright future ahead, Preston is likely to attract significant attention from various clubs if he enters the market in November.
His aggression, tenacity, and ability to find gaps made him a standout during the Bulldogs' 2026 season, making his potential departure a considerable setback for the team.
