The Canterbury Bulldogs' star player Matt Burton is drawing attention from New South Wales coach Michael Maguire as potential State of Origin material.

His coach, Cameron Ciraldo, is a firm believer that Burton has what it takes to wear the coveted Blues jersey.

Ciraldo has seen Burton's potential and is urging him to continue playing at his best to secure a spot in the NSW team.

While Burton had a successful debut for the Blues in 2022, he missed out on selection last year as Queensland claimed the State of Origin shield.

Burton's recent performances for the Bulldogs have been impressive, with him being a driving force in their climb up the ladder.

His increased involvement in the game and ability to make an impact all over the field has not gone unnoticed.

"He's been putting in the hard yards and it's paying off," commented Ciraldo.

"If Matt can maintain this level of play and show consistency, there's no doubt he'll be a strong contender for a NSW jersey."

With Burton already shining in key moments for the Bulldogs, it's clear that he has the potential to make a big impact on the Origin stage.

And as they say in the world of Rugby League, it's all about backing yourself and taking every opportunity you get to prove your worth.

Here's hoping that Burton's hard work will pay off and see him in the Blues jersey once again.
