Brisbane Broncos player Reece Walsh recently addressed a controversy involving a video that emerged on social media, showing him punching a friend in the face while wearing a boxing glove.

This incident has caused frustration among club officials.

In his remarks on the Today Show, Walsh acknowledged the negative impact of the video, stating, "I was just having a laugh with my mate.

Obviously we don't support violence and stuff like that but, yeah, it's not a good look for myself." He clarified that the intention was meant to be lighthearted, saying they were "just trying to have a laugh and a good time with friends."

Despite this, Walsh recognized the seriousness of the matter and emphasized that he does not condone violence: "Obviously we don't support violence and all those kind of things." The incident escalated to the point where Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy expressed his disappointment after speaking with Walsh.

The club's leadership was reportedly unhappy about the video's release on TikTok, reflecting concerns about the image and values the Broncos represent.

Overall, Walsh's comments demonstrate a recognition of the incident's inappropriateness, as well as a commitment to uphold a standard that discourages violence, both on a personal level and as a representative of the Brisbane Broncos.
