The Brisbane Broncos are bolstering their roster by securing Newcastle outside back Wilson De Courcey on a two-year agreement. The 20-year-old is set to leave Newcastle after the current season, bringing his talents to Red Hill, where he will stay until the end of 2028.
De Courcey, who debuted in Round 5 this season against Canberra, has made two NRL appearances so far. However, his track record in the NSW Cup is impressive, tallying 33 tries in just 35 reserve-grade matches over the last two seasons. This makes him one of Newcastle's standout emerging talents.
His signing comes at a crucial time, as the Broncos are preparing for the departures of Jesse Arthars to the Catalans Dragons and Gehamat Shibasaki to the Perth Bears. De Courcey is the second acquisition from Newcastle in recent months, following Dane Gagai's decision to rejoin the Broncos for the 2027 season.
The Broncos have been proactive in enhancing their lineup, with Mitch Barnett, Shawn Blore, and Jonah Pezet also set to join the squad. As he embarks on his journey with Brisbane, De Courcey aims to translate his NSW Cup success into consistent first-grade appearances.
