Broncos score try with contract boost on horizon

The Brisbane Broncos are set to receive a much-needed contract boost just in time for November 1, with star centre Kotoni Staggs reportedly open to sticking around beyond 2025.

Staggs, who is off-contract at the end of next year, has yet to sign an extension with the Broncos and could hit the open market if a deal isn't reached by November 1.

However, News Corp has revealed that Staggs and his management are keen to remain at the Broncos, with the centre showing no interest in exploring other options.

The ball is now in the Broncos' court to make him an offer before the deadline.

Currently, the Broncos have not made a formal offer to retain Staggs, leaving the door open for other clubs to swoop in.

This situation mirrors previous instances where the Broncos have let go of promising players like Herbie Farnworth, Thomas Flegler, and Kennan Palasia before the start of the 2024 season.

But with the November 1 deadline looming, the Broncos will need to step up their game and make a play to keep Staggs on their team.

Time will tell if they can score a win in this contract negotiation.
