In a bitterly disappointing match for the Brisbane Broncos, their chance to clinch the NRL minor premiership slipped away as they were defeated by their long-time rivals, the Melbourne Storm.

The Storm's dominance over the Broncos continued, as they secured a 32-22 victory at Lang Park.

The Broncos had high hopes going into the game, but their dreams were shattered by the impressive performance of the Storm's debutant fullback, Sua Fa'alogo, who scored two tries.

Despite resting a combined total of 21 players, both teams put up a tough fight in their final regular season game before the finals.

Grant Anderson also made a significant impact, scoring twice for the Storm, while Ryan Papenhuizen and Reimis Smith also contributed to their team's triumph.

The Storm's win against the Broncos marked their 14th consecutive victory over their opponents.

The Broncos, on the other hand, put up a valiant effort, with Tom Flegler playing his last regular season game for the team.

Additionally, Jordan Pereira scored two tries for the Broncos, while debutant Josh Rogers showed his accuracy by converting all five of his kicks.

Unfortunately for the Broncos, their efforts were in vain, as they now have to rely on other results to claim the JJ Giltinan Shield, which they last won in 2000.

Despite the disappointment, there is still a glimmer of hope for the Broncos, as they can secure the minor premiership if North Queensland defeats Penrith in their upcoming match.

Meanwhile, the Storm can maintain their third position if the Warriors fail to defeat the Dolphins in their match on Saturday.
