Brisbane's Walsh seeks lessons from Tedesco

James Tedesco's premiership and Clive Churchill Medal last week strengthened his standing as Australia's first-choice fullback for the upcoming World Cup.

The 33-year-old Sydney Roosters captain's late-season form leaves Reece Walsh expecting limited chances to play.

Walsh, 24, is back to fitness and in the Kangaroos squad after a syndesmosis injury ended his 2026 season three games early in August.

Brisbane missed the finals, having won the 2025 premiership with Walsh producing electric late-season performances.

Walsh told Fox Sports he wanted to learn from Tedesco.

"I wish I could be half the player that 'Teddy' is," he said.

"For myself to see the way Teddy prepares for a game as a 24-year-old man, I'm pretty stoked with that.

He acknowledged the challenge of displacing Tedesco while expressing confidence in his own ability.

"It's hard to compete with Clive," he said on Tedesco.
