Rugby League fans in Brisbane are going to great lengths to attend the AFL and NRL grand finals this weekend.

With thousands of fans flying south to support their teams, airfares and accommodation prices in the southern states have skyrocketed.

Return flights from Brisbane to Sydney for the grand finals have already exceeded $750, double the usual price.

Trips to Melbourne are also expensive, with prices exceeding $650.

Hotels near Accor Stadium in Sydney, including the Pullman, ibis, and Notovel, were fully booked by Monday evening.

In Melbourne, at least one hotel has raised its prices to match the demand, with rooms going for over $800 on Saturday night.

One dedicated Lions supporter, Ashley Lamb, has not missed a Lions game in Melbourne for over a decade.

He and many other fans made cancellable bookings ahead of the preliminary final to avoid the price increases.

However, there are also fans who are willing to get even more creative to attend the grand finals.
