"Ivan Cleary twist emerges as Greg Alexander quits Brad Fittler's NSW coaching staff," according to a Yahoo Sports article.
Brad Fittler, the current State of Origin coach for the New South Wales Blues, is set to pitch his case to the NSW Rugby League board to remain in his position.
Fittler reportedly wants Ivan Cleary, the Penrith Panthers mentor, to join his coaching staff in 2024.
The Blues have suffered back-to-back series losses to Queensland, leading to calls for a change of coach.
However, the NSWRL board is leaning towards keeping Fittler after he presented a review of this year's series loss.
Fittler was instructed to return with his projected coaching staff for the next season.
He aims to bring in Cleary as a coaching consultant, as Cleary played a similar role in Game III of this year's series.
Greg Alexander, who served as chief advisor this season, has announced that he will not continue in the role next year.
Alexander stated, "It's been a massive part of my six years.
But it's a big commitment and I've committed elsewhere."
