Melbourne Storm standout Shawn Blore seems to be moving closer to a return to Sydney as his contract with Melbourne approaches its end.
Set to be off-contract at the conclusion of 2026, Blore has had the opportunity to negotiate his future since November 1 last year, yet he has not finalized any agreement as of now.
Prior to the commencement of this season, rumors surfaced about his desire to return to Sydney.
While the Storm has refrained from commenting, it is believed they recognize their slim chances of keeping Blore, a tough situation compounded by uncertainties surrounding Eliesa Katoa's future following a serious head injury sustained while playing for Tonga in the 2025 Pacific Championships.
Several clubs are reportedly interested in acquiring Blore, but recently, Wide World of Sports indicated that the St George Illawarra Dragons are keen on signing him as their sixth player for 2027.
The Wests Tigers, where Blore played before his tenure with Melbourne, are also said to be pursuing him, having seen him develop into a significant contributor in the forwards, reflecting the potential he demonstrated as a youth.
As the Tigers aim to shed several forwards by the season's end to retain breakout star Samuela Fainu, they may find some logic in targeting the Storm stand-out, especially since Fainu could shift back to the middle third.
The Dragons, on the other hand, are evidently intent on a major overhaul as they seek to reinvent their club.
