Bennett Approved to Assist Boyd's Coaching

Rabbitohs endorse Bennett for QLD Maroons role in 2027

The Queensland Rugby League recently appointed Darius Boyd as the head coach for the QLD Maroons, starting his journey toward State of Origin success in 2027.

Boyd's longstanding relationship with Wayne Bennett, who has guided the Maroons to five series victories, could play a pivotal role in this new chapter.

Having first collaborated at the Brisbane Broncos in 2006, Boyd and Bennett developed a close bond over 13 seasons, which included two premierships at the Broncos and the Dragons.

Bennett's extensive coaching experience was highlighted in 2020, when he led a depleted squad to an unexpected series win, demonstrating his ability to navigate challenges effectively.

Blake Solly, the South Sydney Rabbitohs chief executive, expressed his full support for Boyd potentially leaning on Bennett for guidance in this venture.

According to Solly, if Boyd finds himself needing Bennett's expertise during the initial stages, he has the club's unequivocal endorsement to seek that assistance.
