Bellamy Reflects on Reece Walsh and Key Moment in Grand Final Disappointment

Melbourne Storm head coach Craig Bellamy analyzed his team's performance regarding Reece Walsh during the recent grand final. He noted that the Storm failed to effectively tackle Walsh during the matchup.

Despite holding a 16-6 lead at halftime, the Storm struggled in the second half against a Walsh-led Brisbane Broncos team. Walsh delivered an impressive performance, making 14 tackle breaks, assisting in three tries, and scoring one himself, earning the Clive Churchill Medal in the process.

Bellamy acknowledged that their strategy to neutralize Walsh was ineffective, emphasizing that their tackling efforts fell short. He pointed out that Walsh's physicality was a significant factor in his performance.

"It didn't work," said Bellamy, referring to the Storm's attempts to contain Walsh. "I think there are some things you can do. You can tackle him. We didn't."

"He is obviously a good player. He is quick, he is strong. That's probably the X-Factor in him to be quite honest, he is so strong in contact and we didn't do much of a job on him."
