Despite a determined second-half display, the North Sydney Bears were unable to overcome the South Sydney Rabbitohs in a thrilling match at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday afternoon.

The game started with an early try from Allan Fitzgibbon, giving the Bears a promising start.

However, the Rabbitohs quickly responded with a try from Dion Teaupa, taking a narrow 6-4 lead after 10 minutes.

Souths continued to dominate, with Izaac Tu'itupou Thompson scoring to extend their lead to eight points.

Before half-time, star winger Tyrone Munro crossed the try line twice, bringing the Rabbitohs' total to 24 points.

The Bears came out strong in the second half, with Fitzgibbon scoring another quick try to reduce the deficit to four points.

However, despite their fightback, the Bears couldn't close the gap and ultimately fell short, with the Rabbitohs winning the match 30-24.
