Balmain legend Keith Barnes scores final try at 89

Australian Rugby League has lost one of its finest with the passing of Balmain Tigers legend Keith Barnes at the ripe age of 89.

Known as 'Golden Boots', Barnes made his mark on the field, kicking an impressive 742 goals and scoring a total of 1519 points in his 194 games for the Tigers from 1955 to 1968.

The fullback was a key player in three Grand Finals, showcasing his skills and determination on the big stage.

Not only did Barnes shine for Balmain, but he also represented New South Wales and Australia with great pride.

His 12 appearances for NSW and 17 caps for the national team, including 12 as captain, solidified his status as a true great of the game.

His talent and leadership were undeniable, leaving a lasting legacy in the history of Rugby League.

"Keith was a true champion of the sport, with an incredible knack for scoring points and leading his team to victory," said Mr.

Peter V'landys, paying tribute to Barnes' remarkable career.

His courage and skill on the field will forever be remembered in the annals of Australian Rugby League history.

Truly, a legend has left us, but his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of players.
