The risk of an early injury to Harry Grant drove criticism of Australia's bench choices ahead of the Rugby League World Cup semi-final against Samoa.
Speaking on SEN radio on Friday, commentators Jimmy Smith and Greg Alexander questioned Kevin Walters' six-player bench.
Reece Walsh retained the starting fullback role, with James Tedesco, Ethan Strange, Keaon Koloamatangi, Cameron Murray, Reuben Cotter and Latrell Mitchell named as reserves on the bench.
Lindsay Smith, Sam Walker and Blayke Brailey were in the reserves and could enter the 19 in Saturday night's 24-hour update.
Smith argued Tedesco was unnecessary because Mitchell and Tom Trbojevic could cover fullback. "I think Tedesco is excess to needs," Smith said.
He asked Walters, "Have you considered that maybe Blayke Brailey as cover for Harry Grant would be the option to come into the 19?"
Walters replied, "That will be something we'll consider later in the week. The team doesn't have to be adjusted until late so we'll just see how the week goes."
Alexander said Brailey would "make more sense" than Tedesco, while Mitchell could cover fullback, centre or five-eighth.
"The only cover for Harry Grant is Ethan Strange, but he doesn't play dummy-half," Alexander added.
