In light of Coby Black's surprising exit from the Brisbane Broncos, rugby league fans have taken to social media to express their concerns.
The upcoming arrival of Jonah Pezet at Red Hill in 2027 is believed to be a significant factor behind Black's departure. Many fans argue that the Broncos may have made a poor decision by investing heavily in Pezet instead of retaining Black.
NRL agent Braith Anasta has responded to the rumors about Pezet's contract, which reportedly suggested he would earn nearly $900,000 annually. Anasta addressed these speculations directly on social media.
His response came in reaction to fans questioning Pezet's alleged salary on Instagram, where Anasta clarified his client's earnings. "They didn't pay him anywhere near that. Not even close. Broncos won't regret [signing him]," he commented on an Instagram post.
Pezet, who recently signed with the Broncos for 2027, is moving from the Melbourne Storm as part of the club's strategic plan for a future halfback following Adam Reynolds' eventual retirement.
At just 22 years old, Pezet is set to contend for the No.7 jersey alongside Tom Duffy, especially after the young talent Coby Black transitioned to the Canberra Raiders.
