Cody Walker's son, Kian, has officially signed a long-term agreement with the South Sydney Rabbitohs to play in the Harold Matthews competition for the foundational club.
Although Cody, his father, currently lacks a contract beyond this season, CODE Sports has disclosed that Kian has secured a multi-year contract, allowing him to advance towards becoming an NRL star after demonstrating his talents in the junior ranks.
The promising young Indigenous athlete is expected to vie for the fullback position on the Matts' team, where he will play alongside John Morris' son, Cruz.
Uncertainty surrounds Cody's future at South Sydney, with the 36-year-old yet to sign on for the 2027 season.
Teammates Jack Wighton and Campbell Graham have expressed their admiration for Walker's skills, leadership, and overall impact on the team, advocating for his contract extension to keep him on for another year.
"Yeah, sign the old bastard up," Wighton remarked with a grin last week.
"He's the most skilful half in the comp if you ask me."
"We all love him, and hopefully he gets another year round."
In addition, Graham emphasized that having Walker on the field greatly benefits the team, highlighting how he acts as an on-field coach, guiding the South Sydney squad effectively.
