Patrick Mago has committed to Wigan, ending speculation over a return to the NRL.
The 31-year-old Auckland-born forward signed for two seasons, with a further year available to the club.
Reports had cited homesickness and identified at least two interested NRL clubs.
Mago developed through Canberra's system, represented the Junior Kangaroos in 2013, and later played for North Queensland, Brisbane and South Sydney.
He left the NRL after 2021 and has since made 150 appearances for Wigan.
"Wigan has become my second home and I've really enjoyed my time here. The group of lads that we've got here and the coaching staff are class and I'm loving every moment," Mago revealed.
Wigan coach Matt Peet dismissed the prospect of Mago returning to Australia.
"I was a bit (surprised by the reports). Me and Paddy had a laugh about it," Peet said.
"Nonsense. It was easy, and it was (sorted) a long time ago.
