The Wheelchair Dragons narrowly missed out to South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NSW Cup Wheelchair Grand Final before several players earned World Cup selections.
Cory Cannane will represent Australia at the 2026 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup in Wollongong, his second appearance after playing for the Wheelaroos in 2022.
Regarded as one of the sport's most exciting attacking players, Cannane is expected to challenge for the tournament's leading try-scorer honours as Australia targets success at home.
New Zealand's WheelKiwis have selected Dragons players Pele Sulusi and Mitch Stone, who will both make their World Cup debuts.
Wheelchair Dragons head coach Edie George will lead the WheelKiwis, a team still relatively new to international wheelchair rugby league.
Stone, Sulusi and George bring experience and leadership as New Zealand prepares for the tournament.
The opening-round Australia-New Zealand match will feature Dragons representatives on both sides.
The teams meet on Saturday, October 31, at WIN Entertainment Centre, with kick-off at 5:30pm.
