Wests Tigers target Knights winger Schiller

Bradman Best's blow for Wests Tigers in $2.1 million development at Knights

News Corp reports James Schiller is set to join the Wests Tigers immediately, adding outside-back depth for 2027.

The Newcastle winger scored 16 tries in 13 NSW Cup matches, made 64 tackle breaks and averaged 133 metres per game.

He prefers the wing but can also play centre.

After 15 NRL games for Canberra between 2022 and 2024, he played 17 for Newcastle in 2025.

Schiller made one NRL appearance in 2026, against Penrith in Round 8, plus one reserve appearance.

Newcastle has a year remaining on his contract but is understood not to oppose his departure.

The Knights' salary-cap squeeze also ruled out a new deal for Tyson Frizell, who is likely to join the Tigers.

Jake Averillo's arrival and young backs Heamasi Makasini and Solomone Saukuru create competition, while Jeral Skelton's exit reduces depth.

After a bright start and a slide, Benji Marshall's backline changes left the Tigers' preferred five unclear.
