Recent reports indicate that Royce Hunt, a front-rower for the Wests Tigers, may be on the chopping block, similar to Jack Bird, who was recently allowed to talk with other teams.
According to All Out Rugby League, Hunt could be made available to rival clubs as the Tigers aim to adjust their salary cap. He has reportedly caught the attention of teams in the Super League.
Despite being fewer than 12 months into a three-year deal, the 30-year-old Hunt has struggled to find his rhythm with the Tigers after transferring from the Cronulla Sharks. He has appeared in only 13 matches this season and has spent significant time in the NSW Cup, averaging around 20 minutes of play when participating in NRL games.
Approaching the latter stages of his career, Hunt has failed to regain the form he showcased earlier in his professional journey. He is one of seven recruits brought in by the Tigers for the 2025 season and has experience playing for the Canberra Raiders as well as representing Samoa five times, including appearances at the Rugby League World Cup (RLWC).
As the Tigers look to make adjustments, the consideration of Hunt's availability aligns with their goal to free up spots on their Top 30 roster for the 2026 season.
