Warriors Rout Raiders 40-6 in Auckland

Raiders feel defeat against the Warriors in New Zealand

The Canberra Raiders were beaten 40-6 by the New Zealand Warriors in wet, slippery conditions in Auckland.

Both teams had come off wins the previous week and were keen to build momentum.

Canberra opened the scoring when fullback Kaeo Weekes burst through untouched to score under the posts, and halfback Ethan Sanders added the conversion to make it 6-0.

About ten minutes in, Warriors five-eighth Chanel Harris-Tavita left the field after a heavy tackle from second-rower Noah Martin and failed his HIA, ruling him out for the remainder.

New Zealand winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak then crossed on the right, and with Tanah Boyd missing the conversion the score became 6-4.

Raiders five-eighth Ethan Strange looked certain to score in the 26th minute after a slick pass from centre Simi Sasagi but slipped in the wet and was denied.

Repeated ruck infringements by Canberra allowed Boyd to slot a penalty goal to level the scores at 6-6.

The Warriors pulled away after that and ran out comfortable 40-6 winners.
