Newcastle Knights defeated the New Zealand Warriors in Sunday afternoon's NRL semi-final.
Warriors coach Andrew Webster blamed several late officiating decisions, while Knights coach Justin Holbrook saw no comparable problem.
In the 71st minute, Bradman Best dropped a Kalyn Ponga pass before Newcastle challenged, claiming Ali Leiataua had touched it.
Bunker official Chris Butler overturned the decision after citing a change in the ball's rotation.
Minutes later, Greg Marzhew appeared to lose possession, but Te Maire Martin was penalised for stripping the ball; the bunker upheld that ruling.
Two minutes from full time, referee Klein rejected an apparent Tyson Frizell escort penalty on a high kick.
Webster said, "It's frustrating. I thought they were trying to find ways to take it off us."
He said the missed escort call would have drawn the game and forced extra time.
"That [the escort penalty] would have drawn the game and gone to extra time."
"But at the end of the day, you make your own luck in this game, and we had enough opportunities to win that game."
