Bailey Biondi-Odo will leave the Townsville Blackhawks for the New Zealand Warriors in 2027, joining on a development contract.
The half and hooker last appeared in the NRL for Canterbury in 2022, before injury problems, including an ACL injury that ended his 2023 season, led to his departure.
He was expected to return to the Bulldogs in 2024, but instead signed with Townsville.
Biondi-Odo has scored 28 tries and supplied 29 assists in 43 QLD Cup matches, while forcing 14 dropouts and averaging 73 running metres.
His 2026 campaign was especially productive, producing 13 tries and 19 assists in 17 games, mainly at halfback.
The Warriors are preparing for Jett Cleary, Luke Hanson and Luke Metcalf to leave for Penrith, the Gold Coast and St George Illawarra respectively.
Biondi-Odo is the club's first spine signing, following the recruitment of Grant Anderson, Sam McIntyre and Will Warbrick from the Broncos, Cowboys and Storm.
"Bailey showed a lot of promise when he broke into the NRL with the Bulldogs and has just come out of a terrific season with Townsville," Warriors general manager of pathways and recruitment Andrew McFadden said.
"We're excited to bring him into the system and give him this opportunity. He'll boost the resources in the halves and add to the competition for spots."
