England head coach Shaun Wane firmly believes he is the right person to guide England into the Rugby League World Cup 2026, despite the team's 3-0 defeat to Australia in the Ashes series.

This whitewash has raised several questions regarding the team's performance, marking a harsh reality check for England after the series returned for the first time since 2003.

While the pack performed admirably, the backs struggled to make an impact. At times, the system was effective, but it often left little room for adaptability.

England lacked points of difference in their play, a stark contrast to the Kangaroos, who showcased multiple standout players such as Reece Walsh, Cameron Munster, Harry Grant, Nathan Cleary, and Angus Crichton.

In light of such a series defeat, it is customary for the head coach's position to come under scrutiny.

Wane, however, is not without his successes; he boasts a 3-0 series victory over Tonga and a 2-0 win against Samoa. Nonetheless, he also experienced disappointment in the Rugby League World Cup semi-finals against Samoa on home soil.
