New Australian Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters has indicated that Ethan Strange has a chance to be included in the squad for the upcoming tour of the United Kingdom.
This year marks Australia's long-awaited return to the Ashes series, which has been on hold for two decades, as they prepare to face England in three Test matches. Walters, who recently succeeded Mal Meninga, faces numerous selection challenges as Meninga shifts his focus to recruiting for the Perth Bears.
With several players likely to represent other nations, including Payne Haas, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Walters will assess player performance from the end of the regular season and throughout the finals to finalize his traveling roster.
Strange's recent exceptional performances at five-eighth for the Canberra Raiders, who are strong contenders for the minor premiership, have placed him in the spotlight. Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has expressed confidence in Strange's potential for both State of Origin and international play. Moreover, Strange's versatility, able to play as a centre, may make him a valuable addition to the squad this year.
Walters, in a discussion with Fox Sports, confirmed that Strange is indeed in consideration for selection.
