Injured Brisbane Bronco Reece Walsh expects fight for fullback spot with Selwyn Cobbo

Injured Brisbane Bronco Reece Walsh is prepared for a competition with Selwyn Cobbo to reclaim his fullback position after confirming his absence for the opening State of Origin match.

Walsh, 22, sustained a posterior cruciate ligament injury during a round seven game against the Warriors, and he is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks.

Meanwhile, Cobbo has excelled as a fullback, performing impressively in a recent 40-18 victory over Canterbury and demonstrating his capability in prior matches.

Walsh is favored to return to the fullback spot upon his return, though Cobbo's versatility allows him to play multiple positions.

However, Walsh is not making any assumptions about the situation.

Speaking at the Magic Round launch, he expressed, "I feel like having that healthy competition throughout the club is good.

It is only going to push everybody to be their best."
