Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, the Dolphins speedster, is eager to embrace a new role for the Maroons as a potential replacement at fullback for the upcoming State of Origin opener on May 28.
Reports indicate that Reece Walsh's knee injury may sideline him, leading to Knights star Kalyn Ponga being the likely candidate to take over.
However, there's a strong belief that Tabuai-Fidow, affectionately known as the "Hammer," deserves the opportunity to step in, especially given his impressive form and consistent performance in the Queensland jersey.
Tabuai-Fidow has a notable record, having scored nine tries in just seven Origin appearances, predominantly playing as a left centre.
He notably scored a hat-trick in last year's series opener after he was shifted to fullback due to an injury to Walsh from a high shot by Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii.
"The Origin arena is different to club footy, but I'm playing fullback week in, week out here at the Dolphins," he stated.
"The pressure that comes with it, I can live with that." His confidence and readiness to take on this challenge show that he is prepared for the high-stakes environment of State of Origin rugby.
