The Brisbane Broncos have been hit with another blow after confirming that Reece Walsh has suffered a facial fracture, adding insult to injury following their 34-12 loss to the Penrith Panthers in Thursday night's Round 3 opener.
Walsh, who only had a brief stint on the field before being forced off due to a head clash, now finds himself facing an uncertain return timeline.
The unfortunate incident has left Walsh with vision problems in one eye, despite initially passing his HIA.
While there were hopes of his return to the field, he never made it back onto the pitch, with footage later showing the Queensland Maroons State of Origin player sitting on the bench with one eye nearly shut.
Concerns of a facial fracture arose, and those fears have now been confirmed by the Broncos.
Head of performance, Dave Ballard, released a statement confirming the news, with Walsh's return date up in the air as he makes the journey back from Sydney with a club staff member today.
"Reece was taken to the hospital last night after we returned to the team hotel and underwent a CT scan which revealed a facial fracture," Ballard said in the statement.
