Walsh Faces Ban Amid Kangaroos Controversy

The Kangaroos clinched the Ashes series this week, but the match was marred by controversies.

Star fullback Reece Walsh is now facing possible suspension following his sin-bin during Australia's tense 14-4 win over England in the second Ashes Test on Saturday. This victory marked the Kangaroos' 14th consecutive series win, yet the game was plagued with multiple players being sent to the bin, including Walsh, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, and Dom Young, as tensions rose on the field.

Tempers flared right from the start, with Fa'asuamaleaui and Young both penalized in the second minute due to a scuffle. However, the most significant incident unfolded in the 65th minute when Walsh received a penalty for a high shoulder charge on Young. This occurred as Young contested a high ball in-goal, with Walsh arriving late and striking the English winger's head.

Walsh failed to make any attempt to wrap his arms, leading to a heated on-field brawl as English players reacted to the hit. Referee Grant Atkins reviewed the incident and issued a yellow card to Walsh, who protested against the call, but replays showcased clear head contact.

If the International Match Review Committee decides to take a stringent approach, Walsh might face suspension, which would exclude him from the upcoming third Test next weekend. Reports suggest that if the incident took place in the NRL and was classified as a grade-two offence, it would trigger an automatic suspension.

Should Walsh be deemed unfit to play, Dylan Edwards is anticipated to take over the fullback role, with Mitchell Moses and Ethan Strange also in consideration for positions in the halves.
