Tom Steadman had never experienced a trial match quite like the clash between the Burleigh Bears and Tweed Seagulls last year.

The intensity on the field was as fierce as a pack of hungry wolves, with both teams vying for supremacy.

As a Central Coast product, Steadman was new to the Gold Coast, having made the move from New South Wales in 2021 to join the Northern Pride.

However, his transition to the Bears in 2023 brought with it a warning about the long-standing rivalry between the two clubs.

Despite the cautionary tales, Steadman couldn't have predicted the sheer magnitude of the battle that awaited him.

But now, on this upcoming Saturday, he will find himself on the opposing side of the field, wearing the colors of the Seagulls.

Leaving behind the fond memories of his time at the Bears, and the guidance of coach Luke Burt, Steadman is determined to take his game to new heights with the Seagulls, seeing them as the platform for his development.
