Dylan Edwards, fullback for the Penrith Panthers and New South Wales Blues, will not face suspension for tripping Tommy Talau during a recent match against the Manly Sea Eagles.
Reports from zerotackle.com indicate that the incident occurred in the first half when Edwards attempted to prevent Talau from advancing.
Despite some calls for him to be sent to the sin bin, the officiating team, led by on-field referee Belinda Sharpe and bunker official Ashley Klein, decided against this action.
Instead, Edwards has received a Grade 1 dangerous contact charge.
Given his three-year history without incidents, he qualifies for a reduced fine of $750 if he submits an early guilty plea.
If he decides to contest the charge in front of the judiciary and is unsuccessful, he would then owe $1,000.
In contrast, teammate Scott Sorensen faces more serious consequences, having been sin-binned for a significant foul on Manly's Nathan Brown just eight minutes before half-time.
