The NRL has issued breach notices to trainers from both the North Queensland Cowboys and Penrith Panthers due to improper actions with the football during their Round 10 match, which ended in a draw.
Reports indicate that a Penrith trainer was seen squirting the football with water before a kick-off, prompting the Cowboys' coaching staff to raise concerns from the bench.
In response, the NRL has confirmed that both teams will face fines of $10,000 each, and the trainers involved will receive two-match suspensions, with one of those penalties suspended.
The clubs have five days to respond to the breach notices.
The NRL stated, "The NRL has issued North Queensland Cowboys and Penrith Panthers with breach notices relating to the actions of Club trainers in Round 10."
