Tonga's Fainu charged over high tackle

Player at centre of Wests Tigers breach notice saga revealed

Lebanon halfback Alex Conti continued competing under Tonga's pressure and impressed ahead of his season in Bulldogs colours.

Tonga beat Lebanon 36-0 on Friday night in the opening game of the second week of the Rugby League World Cup.

The Cedars held out through early repeat sets before Tonga scored after 12 minutes of sustained pressure.

Tonga added six more tries, with its forward pack dominating the defensive contest.

The MRC issued one charge after the match, against Tonga playmaker Latu Fainu for a Grade 1 careless high tackle on Conti.

Fainu is expected to accept a warning because it is his first offence, and the charge is unlikely to affect his availability.

If he challenges the charge and is found guilty, he would face a one-match suspension.
